How Close Are We to the End Times?

A Deep Dive into the Signs of Revelation and Our Present Age

Few topics stir the hearts of Christians quite like the question of the end times. Whether you have grown up in a church that preaches on Revelation regularly, or you are just beginning to explore what the Bible says about the future, there is something deep within us that is drawn to these great questions: Are we living in the last days? Is Jesus coming back soon? What are the signs we should look for?

These are not idle questions. They are questions that the Bible itself invites us to ask. In fact, Jesus Himself encouraged His followers to watch for the signs of His return. The Book of Revelation, the final book of the Bible, is entirely devoted to revealing what is coming at the end of history — and what it means for those who love God.

In this article, we are going to take a careful, thoughtful walk through the key signs that the Bible says will mark the end times. We will look at what is happening in our world today and compare it with what Scripture says. And we will do all of this with humble, open hearts — because the honest truth is that no one knows the exact day or hour of Christ’s return. But that does not mean we cannot read the signs of the times.

Matthew 16:2-3 (NIV)
“When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.”

Jesus was speaking to the religious leaders of His day who were missing what was happening right in front of them. His challenge to them is the same challenge for us today: are we paying attention to the signs?

1. Understanding the Book of Revelation

The Book of Revelation, also known as the Apocalypse (from the Greek word apokalypsis, meaning ‘unveiling’ or ‘revelation’), is the final book of the New Testament. It was written by the Apostle John while he was exiled on the island of Patmos, likely around 90–96 AD during the reign of the Roman Emperor Domitian. John received a series of visions from Jesus Christ Himself through an angel, and he recorded everything he saw.

Revelation 1:1-3 (NIV)
“The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw — that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.”

Right from the start, John tells us two important things: first, this book comes directly from Jesus Christ, making it one of the most authoritative prophetic texts in all of Scripture. Second, there is a special blessing promised to everyone who reads and takes to heart the words of this book. Revelation is not meant to be feared — it is meant to be understood, treasured, and acted upon.

The book covers a sweeping range of events: letters to seven churches in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), a magnificent vision of heaven, the opening of seven seals, the blowing of seven trumpets, the pouring of seven bowls of God’s wrath, the rise and fall of a world empire called Babylon, the battle of Armageddon, the second coming of Jesus Christ, the final judgment, and the establishment of a brand new heaven and earth. It is a grand, dramatic, and ultimately triumphant narrative.

How Should We Interpret Revelation?

Before we look at the signs of the end times, it is helpful to know that Christians have interpreted the Book of Revelation in several different ways over the centuries. Here are the main approaches:

Preterist View: This view holds that most or all of Revelation’s prophecies were fulfilled in the first century AD, particularly during the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Preterists see Revelation primarily as a message of comfort to persecuted Christians in the Roman Empire.

Historicist View: This approach sees Revelation as a panoramic overview of church history from the time of the Apostles to the Second Coming of Christ. Many of the Protestant Reformers held this view.

Idealist View: The idealist (or symbolic) approach sees Revelation as a symbolic portrayal of the cosmic struggle between good and evil that plays out in every age, rather than a timeline of specific historical events.

Futurist View: The most widely held view in evangelical Christianity today, futurism holds that most of Revelation (particularly from chapter 4 onward) describes events that will happen in the future, at or near the end of history. This includes the Great Tribulation, the rise of the Antichrist, and the Second Coming of Christ.

Within this article, we will take a broadly futurist approach while acknowledging that many signs have both historical and future dimensions. What matters most is not winning a theological debate, but understanding what God wants us to know and how He wants us to live in response.

2. What Jesus Said About the End Times

The Olivet Discourse — Jesus’ Own Teaching

The most detailed teaching Jesus gave about the end times is found in Matthew 24–25, Mark 13, and Luke 21. This is known as the Olivet Discourse because Jesus delivered it while sitting on the Mount of Olives, overlooking the city of Jerusalem and its magnificent Temple. His disciples came to Him privately and asked:

Matthew 24:3 (NIV)
“Tell us, when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

Jesus then gave them a detailed answer that has fascinated scholars, theologians, and ordinary believers for two thousand years. He described a series of signs that would mark the approach of the end. Let us walk through each of these carefully.

Sign 1 — Deception and False Prophets

Matthew 24:4-5 (NIV)
“Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many.”

The very first sign Jesus mentioned is not earthquakes or wars — it is deception. He was warning that as we approach the end of the age, there would be a massive increase in spiritual deception. People would come claiming to be Christ, claiming to speak for God, claiming to have special revelation, and they would lead many people astray.

We have certainly seen this pattern throughout history, from the many messianic claimants of the first century to the cult leaders of the twentieth century. But in our own age, the scale of deception has expanded dramatically. With the internet, social media, and global television, false prophets and false teachers can now reach billions of people with their messages. Cults, heresies, and counterfeit spiritual movements are multiplying at a rate unprecedented in human history.

Matthew 24:11 (NIV)
“…and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.”

Jesus repeated this warning again later in the discourse, underlining just how seriously He took this sign. For the Christian, this is a call to be grounded in God’s Word, to test every spirit, and to be wise about what we believe and who we follow.

Sign 2 — Wars and Rumors of Wars

Matthew 24:6-7 (NIV)
“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.”

Jesus told His disciples that wars would characterize the period leading up to His return. When Jesus spoke of ‘nation rising against nation and kingdom against kingdom,’ the Greek word He used for ‘nation’ is ethnos, from which we get the word ‘ethnic.’ This could point to a time of widespread ethnic and national conflicts — which is exactly what we see escalating in our world today. From the wars in Eastern Europe to conflicts in the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia, the level and intensity of armed conflict globally continues to grow.

Furthermore, for the first time in human history, we now have weapons of mass destruction — nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons — that could wipe out entire populations. The ‘wars and rumors of wars’ of our age carry a threat that no previous generation has ever faced. This alone sets our generation apart from all that came before.

Sign 3 — Famines, Earthquakes, and Natural Disasters

Matthew 24:7 (NIV)
“There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.”

Jesus said these signs are like ‘birth pains’ — they increase in frequency and intensity as the time approaches. A woman in labor experiences contractions that start slow and mild, then gradually increase until the moment of birth. Jesus is saying that the signs of the end times will work the same way.

While famines and earthquakes have always happened throughout history, what we are witnessing in our time is a marked increase in both their frequency and severity. Food insecurity affects hundreds of millions of people around the world today, despite advances in agriculture, largely due to conflict, climate disruption, and political instability.

Luke 21:25-26 (NIV)
“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.”

Luke’s account of the Olivet Discourse adds additional details about cosmic disturbances and widespread fear. The phrase ‘nations will be in anguish and perplexity’ resonates powerfully with our current age of global anxiety, where uncertainty about the future has become a defining characteristic of modern life.

Sign 4 — The Gospel Preached to All Nations

Matthew 24:14 (NIV)
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

Here is one of the most extraordinary and encouraging signs of all. Jesus said that before the end comes, the Good News of God’s Kingdom will be proclaimed to every nation on earth. This is not a sign of doom — it is a sign of God’s incredible grace and His desire that every person on earth have the opportunity to hear about Jesus.

Through Bible translation projects, global missionary efforts, radio, television, and the internet, the gospel has now been shared with a greater percentage of the world’s population than ever before in history. Organizations like Wycliffe Bible Translators have worked to translate the Scriptures into hundreds of languages. Millions of Bibles are distributed globally every year. Christian radio broadcasts reach into some of the most remote and restricted corners of the world. In countries where the gospel is officially banned, underground churches are growing rapidly.

3. Signs in the Book of Revelation Itself

The Rise of the Antichrist

One of the most talked-about figures in all of end-times prophecy is the Antichrist. The word ‘antichrist’ actually appears only in the letters of John in the New Testament, but the figure it describes appears under different names throughout Scripture — the ‘Beast’ in Revelation, the ‘man of lawlessness’ in 2 Thessalonians, and the ‘little horn’ in Daniel.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (NIV)
“Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.”

The Antichrist is described as a world leader who will rise to power in the last days, initially appearing as a peacemaker and a solver of global problems. He will make a covenant with Israel and will seem, at first, to be a brilliant and benevolent leader. But after three and a half years, he will break the covenant, set himself up as God, and launch a terrible period of persecution against believers.

Revelation 13:1-2 (NIV)
“The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority.”

The Beast (Antichrist) draws power from the dragon — who is identified elsewhere in Revelation as Satan himself. Many scholars and students of prophecy have observed that our world today seems more ready than ever before for a figure like this to emerge. Global crises — from pandemics to economic collapse to the threat of nuclear war — are creating a worldwide hunger for strong, authoritative, globally-empowered leadership. International institutions and the interconnectedness of world economies have created infrastructure that a single powerful leader could potentially use to exercise authority over the entire world — something that was never possible in any previous generation.

The Mark of the Beast — 666

Revelation 13:16-18 (NIV)
“It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.”

For most of Christian history, it seemed almost impossible to imagine how a single mark could be imposed on every person on earth, controlling all economic activity. But in our digital age, this is no longer difficult to imagine at all. We live in a world where digital payment systems are rapidly replacing cash, where biometric identification is used at airports and borders worldwide, where our smartphones track our every movement, and where central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) are being developed and piloted by governments across the world.

The technology now exists to create a single global digital identity and economic system in which every financial transaction could be monitored and controlled. While we should be careful not to identify any current technology as ‘the Mark of the Beast,’ it is remarkable that for the first time in history, the infrastructure for such a system actually exists. What is most important about this passage for Christians is the spiritual reality it represents: a system designed to force people to choose between allegiance to God and allegiance to the Beast.

The Great Tribulation

Matthew 24:21-22 (NIV)
“For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now — and never to be equaled again. If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.”

Jesus spoke of a period of unprecedented suffering that would come upon the world at the end of the age. The Book of Revelation describes this period in detail — seven years of global catastrophe, with the final three and a half years being particularly intense. This is known as the Great Tribulation.

Revelation 6:7-8 (NIV)
“When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, ‘Come!’ I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.”

It is worth noting that while Christians debate whether believers will go through the Tribulation, all major views agree that this is a real and coming period of global judgment — and all affirm that God’s people are ultimately protected and that Christ returns victorious at the end.

The Rebirth of Israel — A Landmark Sign

Of all the signs pointing to the nearness of the end times, perhaps none is more dramatic and historically verifiable than the rebirth of the nation of Israel. For nearly two thousand years, the Jewish people were scattered across the nations of the world, without a homeland. Then, in 1948, something happened that had never happened before in all of human history: a people scattered for two thousand years returned to their ancient homeland and reestablished their nation.

Ezekiel 37:21-22 (NIV)
“This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from all around and bring them back into their own land. I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel.”

Amos 9:14-15 (NIV)
“‘I will bring my people Israel back from exile. They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them,’ says the LORD your God.”

Matthew 24:32-34 (NIV)
“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.”

The fig tree has long been a symbol of the nation of Israel in Scripture (see Jeremiah 24, Hosea 9:10, Joel 1:7). Many Bible teachers understand the ‘fig tree putting forth its leaves’ as a reference to Israel’s national restoration. The rebirth of Israel in 1948 is therefore seen by many as the most significant prophetic sign of the modern era — the starting gun, in a sense, for the final countdown.

Zechariah 12:2-3 (NIV)
“‘I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves.'”

The Temple and Jerusalem

Revelation and other prophetic books speak of a rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem as part of the end-times scenario. Currently, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem is occupied by the Dome of the Rock, one of Islam’s holiest sites, making the rebuilding of a Jewish Temple one of the most politically sensitive issues in the world. And yet — preparations for a Third Temple are actively underway among certain Jewish organizations in Israel. The Temple Institute in Jerusalem has already recreated many of the sacred vessels and priestly garments that would be needed for Temple worship.

Revelation 11:1-2 (NIV)
“I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, ‘Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, with its worshipers. But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months.'”

4. Signs in the World Today

Moral and Spiritual Decline

The Apostle Paul gave Timothy a remarkably detailed picture of what the last days would look like culturally and morally. Reading his words today feels strikingly relevant:

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NIV)
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God — having a form of godliness but denying its power.”

This list is breathtaking in its accuracy for our time. ‘Lovers of themselves’ — the age of self-promotion and social media. ‘Lovers of money’ — the rampant materialism and greed of our consumer culture. ‘Without love’ — the breakdown of family and community bonds across society. ‘Lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God’ — the explosion of entertainment, addiction, and escapism. ‘Having a form of godliness but denying its power’ — the rise of cultural Christianity that retains religious language but has lost genuine spiritual transformation.

The Apostasy — A Great Falling Away

2 Thessalonians 2:3 (NIV)
“Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.”

The word translated ‘rebellion’ here is the Greek word apostasia — from which we get the English word ‘apostasy.’ It refers to a great falling away from the faith. Survey after survey in the Western world is documenting exactly this trend. Church attendance has been declining steadily in the United States, the United Kingdom, and across Europe. Among younger generations, the rates of disaffiliation from Christianity are particularly striking.

2 Peter 3:3-4 (NIV)
“Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, ‘Where is this coming he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.'”

Technological Advancements and Global Connectivity

One of the most remarkable features of the Book of Revelation is that it describes global events happening simultaneously across the entire world. Consider this passage, describing the death of the Two Witnesses:

Revelation 11:9-10 (NIV)
“For three and a half days some from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.”

For most of Christian history, people were baffled by this passage. How could ‘every people, tribe, language and nation’ simultaneously view two dead bodies? Today, with live satellite television, smartphones, and social media platforms, this is completely unremarkable. Billions of people simultaneously watch the same live events every day. The interconnectedness of our world, the global financial system, the internet, and digital currency technologies have created the first generation in history where the infrastructure for a truly global government and economic system actually exists.

5. The Return of Christ — The Ultimate Sign

Every Eye Will See Him

Revelation 1:7 (NIV)
“Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all peoples on earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.”

The second coming of Jesus Christ is not merely one sign among many — it is the culmination of all the signs. Everything in the Book of Revelation, all the seals and trumpets and bowls, all the signs in the heavens and on the earth — all of it is building toward this single, world-defining moment when Jesus returns in glory.

Unlike His first coming — humble, quiet, born in a manger in an obscure town — His second coming will be unmistakable and universal. Every person on earth will see it. There will be no missing it, no debating whether it happened. The return of Christ will be the most dramatic, most public, most overwhelming event in all of human history.

Matthew 24:27 (NIV)
“For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”

The New Heaven and New Earth

The end times are not ultimately about destruction — they are about renewal. The Book of Revelation ends not with a burned-out, ruined cosmos, but with something gloriously new:

Revelation 21:1-5 (NIV)
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!'”

This is the ultimate destination of the story. God does not abandon His creation — He renews it. He does not give up on humanity — He redeems it. The new heaven and new earth is a place where God Himself dwells with His people face to face, where every tear is wiped away, where death and suffering and pain no longer exist. This is what all the drama of Revelation is leading to — a universe made new, filled with the glory of God, shared with those who love Him.

6. So — How Close Are We?

Having walked through the signs described in Scripture, we return to our original question: How close are we to the end times? Here is what we can say with confidence:

We are living in a uniquely significant moment in history. Never before have so many of the signs described in Scripture been simultaneously visible. The rebirth of Israel (1948) was a watershed moment. The reunification of Jerusalem under Israeli control (1967) was another. The explosion of global communication technology, the development of digital economic infrastructure, the moral and spiritual patterns described by Paul and Peter, the unprecedented spread of the gospel worldwide, the rise of global governance structures — all of these are converging in our generation in ways that have simply never happened before.

Matthew 24:36 (NIV)
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

Not knowing the exact day or hour is not the same as having no idea where we are in the story. Jesus expected His disciples to be watching and ready.

Luke 21:28 (NIV)
“When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

‘When these things begin to take place’ — that is where we appear to be. The signs are not all fully unfolded. The Tribulation has not begun. The Antichrist has not been revealed. But the conditions that would make all of these things possible have never been more fully in place. Most importantly, Jesus called His followers not to fear these signs, but to look up in hope. For those who love Christ, the end times are the fulfillment of every promise God has ever made.

7. How Should We Live in Light of These Signs?

Stay Spiritually Alert

1 Peter 5:8 (NIV)
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

Jesus repeatedly said ‘watch’ and ‘be ready.’ This means staying close to God in prayer and in His Word. It means being discerning about what we believe and who we follow. It means not getting spiritually lazy or complacent just because things seem normal.

Share the Gospel Urgently

Romans 10:14 (NIV)
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”

If we believe that time may be short, that should give us a holy urgency to share the Good News with those around us. Every person in our lives who does not know Jesus is someone for whom Christ died and to whom we can be an ambassador of hope.

Live with Eternity in Mind

2 Peter 3:11-12 (NIV)
“Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.”

Knowing that this world is temporary and that what truly lasts is our relationship with God and our impact on eternity should change our priorities. It should make us less attached to material things and more passionate about things that will last forever.

Encourage One Another

Hebrews 10:25 (NIV)
“…not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

As end-times signs increase, the Christian response is not to withdraw in fear but to gather together, support one another, and strengthen each other’s faith.

Summary

The Book of Revelation and the broader prophetic witness of Scripture describe a series of signs that will mark the approach of the end of the age and the return of Jesus Christ. These signs include widespread spiritual deception, wars and ethnic conflicts, natural disasters and famines increasing in frequency, the global proclamation of the gospel, the rise of a world dictator known as the Antichrist, a global economic system of control, a period of unprecedented tribulation, and ultimately the glorious return of Christ in power and great glory.

When we look at our world today, we see a remarkable and unprecedented convergence of these signs. The rebirth of Israel in 1948 remains the most singular prophetic fulfillment of modern history. The development of global communication and digital economic technologies has created, for the first time, the practical infrastructure for the kind of global control described in Revelation 13. The moral and spiritual patterns described by Paul and Peter are clearly visible in our society today. And the gospel is being preached to more people than ever before in human history.

No one can say with certainty that Christ is returning in our lifetime. God’s timing is His own, and He has often surprised His people. But we can say with confidence that we are living in the most prophetically significant era in two thousand years of church history. We are not meant to respond to this with fear, but with faith — staying alert, living faithfully, sharing the Good News, and lifting our heads in hope, because our redemption draws near.

Revelation 22:20 (NIV)
“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.”

Reflection Questions

Take some time to prayerfully consider these questions. They may be used for personal devotion or group discussion:

  1. Which of the signs described in this article do you find most compelling or most surprising? Why?
  2. Jesus said the first sign of the end times is deception. How do you personally guard yourself against spiritual deception in your daily life?
  3. How does the reality of Christ’s return change the way you think about your priorities — your time, money, and relationships?
  4. Is there someone in your life who does not yet know Jesus? How might an awareness of the end times give you greater urgency to share the Good News with them?
  5. Hebrews 10:25 tells us to encourage one another ‘all the more as you see the Day approaching.’ In what practical ways could you do this in your church community?
  6. How do you balance being alert to the signs of the times without becoming fearful or obsessed with end-times speculation? What does healthy, biblical watchfulness look like?
  7. The end of Revelation describes a new heaven and new earth where God wipes away every tear. How does this ultimate hope shape how you face the difficulties of life today?

A Prayer for These Days

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, knowing that You hold all of history in Your hands. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, and nothing that happens in this world surprises You or catches You off guard. Thank You for giving us Your Word — the precious gift of Scripture — that lights our path and reveals what is coming.

Lord, as we see the signs of the times unfolding around us, we ask You to fill us with faith rather than fear, with hope rather than despair, and with holy urgency rather than complacency. Help us to be watchful without being anxious, prepared without being presumptuous, and bold without being arrogant.

Give us love for those around us who do not yet know You. May the knowledge that time is precious drive us to share the Good News with greater courage and compassion. And may Your Church be found faithful — gathered together, encouraging one another, and holding on to the hope that does not disappoint.

Come, Lord Jesus. Come quickly. And until You do, may we be found about Your Father’s business, loving God and loving our neighbors, shining like lights in a world that so desperately needs Your hope. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
— Jeremiah 29:11
